A miscellany from May 2011.

Once again the majority of this month's pictures were taken by Jean either on solo walks or on a day out with some friends. Hopefully, given some half decent weather in June, she will be able to get some more walks done and will provide some more shots for me to upload while I amd recovering from the ankle surgery that is to be done on Jun 7th. Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures below.

May 1st. Close to the outflow of Grasmere a fine field of bluebells on a brilliantly sunny day.

May 1st. Silver How, Grasmere and the bridge over the River Rothay that flows out of Grasmere.

May 7th. Setting off on a gloomy, cloudy day for a walk to Silver How with friends Tony, Roy and Ben the labrador. Helm Crag dominating the picture. It rained heavily before they were down.

May 7th. Roy at the top of Silver How. The Langdale Pikes on the left skyline.

May 7th. Tony, Roy and Ben descending from Silver How just before the rain started. The dip in the skyline on the right is Grisedale Hause with Seat Sandal on it's left and Fairfield to the right.

May 14th. Struggling up Ling Fell with Skiddaw in cloud top right.

May 14th.Descending the excellent track from Ling Fell. The hill opposite is the slightly lower Sale Fell.

May 19th. On the way up Place Fell looking along Deepdale towards the distant hills of the Fairfield Horseshoe. The little pointed peak top right skyline is Gavel Pike with St Sunday Crag beyond.

May 19th There is now a constucted path almost to the top of Place Fell. Looking back down to Boredale Hause with the obvious path to Angle Tarn Pikes on the left and a tiny glimpse of Brotherswater just right of centre. The lowest point of the skyline is the Kirkstone Pass.

At the top of Place Fell a lone walker enjoying a break and no doubt a bite to eat. Looking towards the outflow end of Ullswater.

Approaching the trig point at the summit of Place Fell with the Pennine Hills just visible in the far distance. Wish I could have been there!

And finally......On the way down from Place Fell looking across the head of Ullswater towards Glenridding Dodd and Sheffield Pike.
